And now for the not-so-great news…
Well guys, I gave it my best shot, but it’s proven to be too difficult to maintain the twice a week pace. It’s not that I’m burnt out — I’m still enjoying my work on Swoop very much, but quite simply, I’m broke and need to focus on some paying gigs! I’ll try to sneak in a two-pager here and there, but for now, we’re back to one full page on Wednesdays.
The silver lining is, one of the other reasons I’m returning to once a week is I’m working on an all-ages graphic novel. I haven’t landed a publishing deal yet, but I have a really positive feeling this is going to change in the near future. I encourage you to follow my art blog (www.Duttonart.net) where I’ll soon be posting sneak peak sketches!
In the meantime, sorry everyone. I hope you’ll understand.

I’m glad that you’re not giving up.
Don’t hesitate to tell us on the Swoop blog if you have anything major, by the way. I’m too lazy to follow both. :p

Congrats on launching your graphic novel initiative. I love Swell, but I can’t wait to see what else you come up with. Reach for the stars, man.
Good luck!

Hey Steve, thanks! I really appreciate the encouragement, especially because I listened to your podcast a while back about the whole process of pitching a book. While sobering in some aspects, it was inspiring overall.

I’m with Ogden on this one, it’s all good. It’d be so neat to see a book in print, and besides we already established that we’re no worse off going to once a week than we were for the past year.

No need to apologize. I like having things like a roof over my head and utilities too much to fault you for wanting paying gigs. Do your best and that will be good enough for me.

It might be just one update, but the last one is worth three single strips, for example. So nobody can complain that you’re not able to do more than one of those pages per week.
