The Lowdown
I guess it’s time to make it official - updates are now on Friday. I hate to make you wait all week to get your updates though, so here’s some good news. I’m going to be updating on Tuesdays as well… that’s right. One Swoop Fell is now officially a twice a week comic!
The big reason for the change is that I really want to move the story forward. Believe it or not, the story does end at some point. This week is considered the first page in volume two (in case you haven’t heard, I’m putting together book one!), which should explain Rico’s explaining.
With this volume comes a couple changes. One, I’m now hand lettering. It’s not a very standard comic book font look, but it looks a little more natural (to me, anyway). I’ll get better at it in time, so please bear with me! And two, smaller panel count, but bigger panels. In putting the book together, I realize each page could use a little more breathing room. With updates coming twice a week, I shouldn’t have to worry as much about getting everything out in one page.
I could be shooting myself in the foot with this twice a week business, but I’ve just replaced my brush, reorganized my studio, and there may be a new computer soon, so I’m feeling ambitious. Let’s see how it goes!

Fantastic news! I’ve really been excited about the traffic and exposure you’re starting to get–especially with the link from Sandra and Woo and the news about Flight.

Your establishing panels have been amazing and this week’s is no exception. I like the way that you draw cityscapes and skylines.
Good luck with the lettering, it’s such a pain in the arse (at least for me it is). I use to hand letter, but it’s really bad, so I use the computer for that now.

I feel sorry for Topo, though… I hope he’ll show that big lug some day…

Good luck with the book and the new schedule! I linked here not too long ago drom another site, and was pleased with what I found! This is a big thing to do by one’s self, and you’re doing excellent work, great job!

Awesome news! OSF has quickly become my favorite comic and I am thrilled you are going twice a week. And bigger panels are all the better! More power to you Mike - sign me up for Book One!

This is indeed fantastic news Mike, I’m glad you decided to pick up OSF’s pace, thumbs up:-)
Good luck with the book publishing, it’s probably one of the hardest things to make it right.
Still here,
B.

I love the change to handlettering. I think it looks much better and I find easier to read, and also fills the word balloons better. Can’t wait to see more of Swoop!

By the way, I’d fix those differently-coloured yellows inside the letters…
