What’s this, a bout?
Sorry for posting so late, guys. Another one of those weeks…
I’ll put up a color version over the weekend. For now, hope you enjoy the inks!
Edit: Colors are up now. If you want to see the black and white version, click here!
I’m actually happy with the colors here, which is a first for pretty much the entire gelato shop corner sequence. The sun’s been progressively sinking from page to page and now the city lights are starting to turn on. I really didn’t take as much advantage of the magic hour light and colors like I could have. Maybe I’ll go back and repaint some of the pages at some point.

It’s actually kinda neat to read this in black and white. Feels classic. Love the playing with age expectations here Mike, and you draw fight bits quite well, I would never have guessed! I actually felt kinda sad that Rico was getting beat up.

That final panel drew such a loud bark of laughter from me I frightened the cat and got a big scratch when she jumped off my lap. THAT’s a good comic! Mari better watch out. Max will be after her instead of Swoop now.

The prospects of seeing Max trying to put the moves on Mari while he’s supposed to be doing the Proffessa’s bidding…with Puff sitting nearby watching and stewing in his bowl…brings a smile to my face.
I was kinda looking forward to Oshkosh getting in on the fight too, but…oh well.

Hey Shane, you’d probably be really surprised to know I used to do lots of high/dark fantasy stuff for folks like Wizards of the Coast, Fantasy Flight Games, and such. So yeah, I’ve got some “action” on my resume.
Mary- Ouch! Sorry about that.
That Max, he’s getting all kinds of people injured.
Ceijiz, I totally should’ve thrown him in the mix. Oshkosh does have some dog-like qualities after all (the ring around the eye is a give-away!)

Actually, I looked that up a while ago. I keep wondering if I’ll randomly find a Magic card by you, but alas, nothing yet. Maybe I’ll borrow my friends Monster Manual 2 or something.

Never did Magic, wouldn’t encourage you to look at MM2 either, but for different reasons.

This one is so much more beautiful with the colours! TBH, I thought that it was too cluttered when it was just the line art.

Don’t worry about the scratches, Mike. That particular cat is skittish and jumps at practically everything.

I have a younger brother who’s taller than me, too. He looks like he’s two years older than me, but there’s actually almost seven years difference.

Rahnee, Yeah! I have a brother who’s taller and three years younger than me. Everyone thinks he’s older than me. I suspect I have traces of whatever Gary Coleman has.

The composition of panel 2 is outstanding! The action is clean and flow is strong. I’m a big fan.
I also like the glow of the setting sun behind Mari in the first panel. Its nice and rich despite the internet’s limited color palate. Love the comic, Mike!
