Never the Task at Hand

I’m still wrapping up a deadline, but decided that taking two weeks off from the comic was unacceptable. Hope you guys enjoy!

Wow, it’s been a year since we profiled you’re strip. Just popped back in to see how you’re doing and I gotta say, you keep getting better. Keep up the great work.

Ooh, fancy glowy houses in the middle of forests can’t be good, can they?

I really love the second panel. Reminds me of Copper. Very beautiful!

:) Yeah Mike, IS panel 2 a Copper tribute?

Hmm, maybe it’s just the nightime lighting on Topo’s jacket or the fact that it’s been a while, but are you doing something different somewhere between panels 1-3? They’ve got this really awesome feel.

Hey Guys, thanks as always for the support and the comments. :)

Shane, it might be the color choices that give panel 2 an ode to Copper look. I’ve been enjoying blue-greens lately. It could be the composition? I was going for a Wes Andersonesque left-to-right sideview shot (just needs some slow-mo and an acoustic guitar Elliott Smith intro). That said, the Copper thing is not intentional. But Kazu is definitely an inspirational guy in my life, so there’s probably no avoiding his influence, ever.

As for the “awesome feel”, I think it might just be that we’re finally seeing some new scenery and time of day? Personally, I’m happy to finally be out of the city locations and closer to the Tree!

love the house. it seems like a good set-up for a hallowe’en ghost story a la stan sakai. there will be an old woman with no legs inside, and she’ll offer swoop exactly four cucumbers…

nice artwork I did not realize that this webcomic is still new, I enjoyed the softer lines, and the cool details of the comic book (loved the fish flying boat, my favorite page)

great work keep it up! and you are bookmarked! :D
