Chapter Two
I’m pretty sure most folks are, in fact, halfway through Fall by now, but seasons seem to take their time getting here in the Bay Area. I was spacing out this morning, trying to figure out how to open Chapter Two, when I realized the trees in my backyard were finally starting to shed their leaves. Or maybe it’s been happening for a while, and I just don’t get outside enough to notice.

Aww, autumn looks beautiful. Too bad it’s just sun and rain here. And more sun.
Great start for chapter 2 Mike!

Is nice this first open vew of the city.
And then, next to the calm of this beautifull sleeping city, apears mistery…
(i thot it could be frisco, never been there but the hills and that architecture send me a clue).

My first thought was “San Francisco?” I live across the bay, but was born there and spend a lot of time there too. It’s cool to know you’re a fellow Bay Area-ite.

As usual Mike, you rock the scenery. I’d say Topo is way behind right now though, because it’s SNOWING where I am. Yay winter!

I’m amazed at how easily you guys recognize this city. I must be doing something right! Though Oak’s Peak (the city our main character lives in) is based mainly on my own town of Berkeley, the San Francisco feel in this one can be attributed to a recent visit to see my brothers, who both live on Potrero Hill in SF. Luckily, I hadn’t done a full pan view of Topo’s town yet… so I was able to take advantage of Potrero Hill’s vantage point.
Still, I like to think there’s a little East Bay in this as well. The largest mountain in the middle could be Mt. Diablo or Mt. Tam, and if the street was a little more narrow, we could be on Marin or Euclid Ave.
Either way, the bay area does tend to be like one large bubble, while it rains and snows everywhere else. If it weren’t for the shorter days, I wouldn’t realize winter was coming at all!
Thanks for the comments and encouragement guys. It keeps me going.

What a wonderful comic. It makes me just want to site and drool.
Plus I’m from Berkeley, so I can totally relate.
