Uplift
Boy, I wish I visited the store the Travel Log is based on a few updates ago. I forgot how cool it is inside. I think I’ll need to go back on the previous comics and tighten up the interior scenes a little bit.
The sign in the end is an actual sign inside the store as well. I thought it was fitting to include it in this week’s comic for a couple reasons. It serves the story in a small way, but today is also the third year anniversary that I proposed to my wife, Alex. So yeah, you guys owe her a small thanks for being so understanding that I had to skip our dinner tonight to finish the comic…. and I owe her way more for putting it off ’til the last minute!

I would love to know what store this is based on since books are a passion and a bookstore in an old chapel sounds divine!
Many thanks to Alex for allowing you to finish and provide we readers with such a beautiful page today! I really like the cracked glass in the last panel. It gives a feeling of age and wisdom to the store (although why wisdom I couldn’t tell you).

Wait… since when do bears have big, bushy tails?

Really nice, Mike. I love the lighting effects, they really seem to illuminate. Does that circular bench exist in the actually store?

Constant delivery! I love the first panel; now I have an even broader vision of the store. I can relate to your characters in a very cool way, having an incredible passion for my better half, and an unexplainable affinity to world traveling.

AA - The actual location is an outdoor goods store called Marmot Mountain Works in Berkeley. They have a decent book selection, though not as big and all encompassing as the one in the comic!
Hey Esn - Mari is a squirrel. You’ll just need to go along with the fact she’s nearly the same height as the bear (and larger than her cat).
Dave - The circular bench was my idea. They have circular clothing racks. See you this weekend!
Jhonz - If your better half shares your affinity for world travel, then you’ve got the ultimate combo.

[...] If you’re not reading One Swoop Fell, you should. One Swoop Fell features beautiful artwork and compelling characters. One Swoop Fell is the best of what all ages comics can and should be. Two pages have gone up since our last announcement, as Topo the bear’s friend Swoop may have just become . . . well, you should just read it now, shouldn’t you? [...]
